The University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) has reimagined its Mission campus within the Heritage Park Centre, reopening the space in late summer 2024. This transformation embodies the spirit of Stó:ló culture and celebrates the joy of learning, creating an inclusive and inspiring environment for students, faculty, and the wider community.
Designed with culturally significant materials and adorned with Indigenous art, the new campus respects and reflects Indigenous traditions, fostering a deeper connection between education and culture.
In the common space, Maxxit’s Agilis Deco Panels create a striking spotlight ceiling. The panels are finished in silver, introducing a captivating ripple effect that enhances the space with a shimmering water-like movement. This design choice symbolizes the fluidity of water, evoking a sense of calm and tranquility that enriches the learning environment.
The dynamic water effect of the Deco Panels beautifully juxtaposes the natural surroundings and the warm wood-toned ceiling, establishing a harmonious blend of elements that connect the built environment with nature.
Through thoughtful design and collaboration, the UFV Mission campus stands as a beacon of reconciliation and educational excellence, inviting students and visitors to engage in a space that honors history while embracing the future.
