Irma-LeVasseur High School was designed with a focus on youth development, embracing open and fluid spaces, a strong connection to nature, and sustainability at its core. This innovative educational facility emphasizes the integration of architecture with its natural surroundings, promoting well-being and environmental responsibility.

To realize the architect’s vision, our Tignum wood series was utilized to craft a custom suspended plank ceiling. The planks are finished in maple veneer with a natural clear topcoat, exuding a warmth that complements the biophilic design.

The ceiling seamlessly connects key collective spaces, including the expansive atrium and the amphitheatre, enhancing the sense of openness. Its design allows for the integration of linear lighting and speaker systems and easy removal for plenum access. These features, combined with the natural aesthetic and sustainable materials, contribute to achieving LEED Silver certification, aligning with the school’s eco-conscious mission.

The result is a thoughtfully crafted space that supports learning, fosters community, and honors the environment.
