UBC Arts Student Centre

The UBC Arts Student Centre at The Bosque is a striking, three-storey facility designed to serve the undergraduate students of the UBC Faculty of Arts. Conceived by Leckie Studio Architecture + Design, the centre boasts a unique circular form and radial grid layout, symbolizing activity and connection while fulfilling its academic, social, and recreational roles.

To complement the architect’s vision for the building’s distinctive exterior, Maxxit’s Protero Exterior Wall Fins were incorporated to seamlessly blend with the exposed metal facade. Close collaboration with the cladding manufacturer ensured a precise colour match to preserve the cohesive aesthetic of the structure. The attachment method was carefully engineered to maintain the integrity of the cladding, allowing for water drainage without compromising performance. By rolling a C-channel to match the building’s circumference and utilizing a compression-setting attachment, Maxxit ensured a secure and durable installation to withstand the elements.

The UBC Arts Student Centre has achieved LEED Gold certification as a testament to its sustainability and design excellence.

The project has been recognized with the IES Award of Merit (2022).
